LIGHTING AND CAR PARK UP-DATE  July 05

I wrote earlier with the good news that at long last the Council were to install lights from the car park to the club in the 2008/2009 financial year and later to resurface the car park in the 2009/2010 financial year.

We have now been informed that the lighting work is likely to be started in the autumn and that the car park will be closed. We have been told we will have to use the Dam Head car park instead (the one beside the football club) I have made fairly strong representation about getting this time-scale changed so that the work can be done before the clocks go back at the end of October. If not then we are faced with an even longer, more dangerous walk than we have now, especially in the dark, in the winter and this could lose us members apart from being risky.

I have to say that the response from the officers has been poor and I suspect we will have to push pretty hard and soon to get a better solution for us. I have written to Counc. Malcolm Brain but not received a reply. If anyone knows him or has him as a Councillor can you please seek his help on this issue.

David Rochester (Chairman)

Congratulations to Holly Robson who won the Ladies League with Rachel Farrey finishing runner up, and also to Bryan Manning who won a close Mens B League, finishing 4 points ahead of David Miller. Mar 12 2008 - GREAT NEWS CLUB CARPARK TO BE IMPROVED

Hello all,
Some good news at last on the car park/lighting. I have heard today that the scheme has been approved to be implemented in two stages over 2008/9 (lighting from car park to club) and 2009/10 (resurfacing of the entire car park and landscaping). The whole scheme will cost over £200,000 so success is a major achievement. It took only nine years!
I will find out which department in the council will be responsible and try to ensure the lighting work is carried out before the clocks go back in October 2008.
We can give this news to those attending the AGM on Wednesday.
David
